Does anyone think a 3x a week split is too little?

    i hit

    monday:
    chest, tris, forearms, abs

    wednesday:
    back, bis, forearms, abs

    friday:
    shoulders, legs, forearms, abs

(the abs/forearms are different exercises as to avoid overtraining obviously)

i don't know about BBing but personally I've been getting stronger since I started training with weights only 3x a week instead of 4x. Less joint irritation as well.

I couldn't train forearms 3x/week because my grip would weaken after the first week, but calves sure.

I get by well with 3x/week.

For me personally, there is just no way I can give my triceps any real attention after chest, biceps after back, or shoulders on any other day. I need a seperate day for them.

Mentally I couldn't do 3 days. I still have a hard time only doing four days, with Wednesday off. :o

    do what I did

work out every week for 5-6 days a week. then add in arnolds routine. gain hardly any strength or size.

get burned out, take 4 months off.

come back and appreciate how nice and perfect 4 times a week is.

I did six days a week with tons of volume for a 4-5 months and made size and strenth gains the same as 4 or 5 days week.

Works for some people I guess. :dunno:

Granted I took 3 months off to work on a car and drink beer, but that wasn't because I was burned out. I just wanted to finish my car, which I didn't and am still working on it. :squint:

i do that routine but 4 days a week, well except the forearm stuff. so every week i end up doing one of those splits twice. legs/shoulder day fucking sucks. i dont do any abs after it because i just want to get the fuck out of the gym.

My av is so small you can't see it!
3 days a week is great for natural lifting, but i can't train less than 5 days.. it's just mentally impossible, i have a fear of not going to the gym

I find that 3x week gives me a good amount of rest and healing although the volume hit during the 4x-5x week could be a factor as well as rest and caloric intake.

I like lifting 3 days a week myself, but I also do conditioning 3 other days. I used to do forearms several days a week but I cut it down to 2 because it was holding back my deadlift after a while due to my forearms being tired.

My best gains are from 3 workouts a week(gain in strength and size). It gives you body plenty of time to rest and build muscle. But you honestly don't need to do forearms 3 times a week. You don't even really need to do it 1 time a week. Deadlifts are the best forearm workout.
