does anyone know of a device that can turn a webcam into a network camera?

    or does anyone know of an HD network camera that doesn't suck and won't break the bank?

    I haven't looked into AMX or Crestron devices yet cause it would take me a year to get through them.. hoping someone can point me in the right direction first.

    that does convert the USB signal to an ethernet one, but no normal network device would know what to do with it. that's just intended for using USB devices with a computer client at long range. I'm looking for something that takes the computer client out of the equation completely.

    Maybe a gumstix mini computer with linux and properly set-up software...still cheaper than a network webcam.

    or openwrt on a router with usb, but you'll be compiling drivers etc so will require fiddling.
