How do you guys like it? I'm not sure if its my perticular lens but I can't stand it. It takes forever for it to focus and just seems so slow. Def now what I expected from the lens.

I use my 17-70 sigma way more then that.

I have it. It's a great lens and the focus is quick and accurate.

    Send it into Canon? :dunno:

To be honest, Ive never been impressed with any 50mm lens Ive shot with (Canon 1.8, 1.4, and Nikon 1.4). I hear good things about the Sigma but that company left a real bad taste in my mouth Ill probably never get over.

In the end, 50 is too 'normal' for my tastes anyways. Id rather work the 35/24 or an 85.

Does it make any noises while focussing? Can you explain in more detail what is going on with it?

To compare. My 1.4 USM is the fastest focussing lens I have. It's very quiet too. Meaning I don't hear anything when it focusses.

my 50 1.4 was amazingly fast and quiet to focus and sharp as a tack. now its hard as hell to nail the focus at 1.4 on kids who move a lot, but it was sharp on stationary objects. :o

my 50 1.4 was very quick and accurate as well before it decided to take a dive and now the AF doesn't work at all

I will be getting it repaired because I did really like it and I don't think i'd be using it enough to justify getting the sigmalux

My Nikon 50 1.4 is spectacular.

  10. Played with it all the time at the place I used to work, it was quite nice. Build quality was excellent, USM was quiet. Nice colors and tack sharp.
