    Disclaimer *ya its a truck topic but i feel it will be better recived here then the truck forum*

    so dodge is new theme is to have a crazy "hotrod" version of all there cars, they're stamping SRT badges on just about everything they make, and they have stuff like the charger superbee, chysler even made a SRT8 jeep for cryn out loud? so what the hell happend to the dakota?

    i went to my local dodge dealer today to check out the new '08 facelift in person and inquired about a hemi so we looked it up and the dakota is only offered with club cab and quad cab bodys, 4.7 V8 but auto only and no "hotrod" model?

    the 97-04 dakotas were available with a 5.2/5speed then a 4.7/5speed both in a single cab but the more well known version was the R/T available in both single and club cab with a smoken 5.9(or the 360ci for our cubic inch readers). so i guess what im getting at is why the fuck did they take the fun out of the dakota?

    :dunno:

    **cliff notes**

    1997-2004; available in a single or club cab with 5.2 stick or 4.7 stick OR the R/T = fun :coold:

    (2002 single cab R/T)

    (2002 club cab R/T)

    2005-2007; available with a 4.7 V8 (only with auto), no single cab = no fun :wtc:

    [IMG]

    2008; face lift, no bodystyle or powertrain changes = no fun :wtc:

    ...on a side note Chevy is (or is considering) a 5.3 v8 colorado, which would be something worth test driving :cool:

    I do suppose you're right, but I guarantee you the r/t's weren't selling well enough to merit their existence

    Im still having fun with my R/T, but I do like the look of '08 dakotas. I think they sold R/T models in the new dakotas but it was just a badge and the 4.7 H/O motor sadly.

    I kind of miss my old R/T but the engine really killed it for me. You can only take 1960's tech so far.

    Maybe you should go look at the '08s again, they revised the 4.7 for this year and it is putting out 300 HP now. Thats a good amount more horsepower than the factory 5.9 ever put out.

    Looks like it has a giant under-bite.

    And Chevy has been rumored to be doing a V8 Colorado since it first introduced the Colorado.

    5.9 R/T= 250hp 345lb/tq
    5.2= 245hp 300lb/tq
    4.7= 240hp 295lb/tq

    the R/T's were only automatics tho which was kinda dumb, even tho they have more lb/tq the 5 speed 5.2 and 4.7's "feel" faster IMO.

    One of my good friends has a 5.2 club cab dakota, and I used to have a v6 when I was 17. They are cool trucks.
