Do you guys think that the "viper truck" is going to hold its value well like the 03-04 Cobra, Supra TT, since it is the baddest example of that type of vehicle from their respective makers? Toyota hasn't made a better supra since '98, ford hasnt made a better stang than the 04 cobra, and I doubt you will find a bigger gas motor than an 8 liter V10 in a truck anytime soon.

Or will it depreciate like a normal vehicle ... F150 lightning seems to be about what you'd expect..not sure if they will cost the same in a few years as they do now though..

true they are all limited edition vehicles. I'd prefer the L over the SRT-10, mainly because it's faster.

well certainly depreciation from MSRP is already huge...but say if you bought one for $25k with reasonably low miles today, would it not still be in that same price range in a few years if you keep the miles relatively low?

The manual version would probably be better off than the auto version.

They are currently worth jack squat. I'd rather have a Diesel than one of these.

Cool idea though, I like it when manufacturers stuff huge motors in normal cars. The SRT-8 Grand Cherokee on the other hand is holding value VERY well.

They overproduced them by quite a few. When they start becoming hard to find things will change. Not unlike the LT1 Impala SS, Sy/Ty, etc

    HD > SRT10

Stock for stock the 4 door versions are pretty much even, but with basic mods the HD runs away from the SRT

And then the 1200rwhp TT Ram eats the HD for dinner.

Modded SRT-10 > All other "sport" trucks.

I am fairly sure the world's fastest gas powered full size truck is a Lightning. But comparing fast trucks is kind of dumb, either/or would be cool.

Those HD trucks are sweet, especially the '03's with the Navigator interiors.

HDs have the same motor as the Lightning, but the crew cab and plush interior adds some weight.

Uh, yes. Not sure what the point of that was but you're definitely preaching to the choir.

At this point in my life I'll take the plush interior and extra seating. I rarely even made it to the track in my other car this year :(

I dunno what point I was trying to make either...

In some ways the HD model is a little more useful than an L.

For sure. I drove an '03 Lightning across the PacNW one summer, despite the 12mpg, it was a head turner every where (Sonic Blue on dished 22's). I REALLY wish they made the HD as an AWD for the area I live in. Oh well.

The fastest HD runs a 10.6 or so, but it's still on a blower, not turbo'd. There are a couple turbo'd ones at the moment, but they are still being finished and haven't been run yet.

The SRT10's just aren't as nice, they are way overpriced, and they aren't as inexpensive to mod.

Now THAT was a cool truck. My buddy had the one right before they gave it the SC and his father has the SC'd one (bought it when he gave his son a ride to the dealership so his son wouldn't have a cooler truck than him :mamoru: ) and they're both really nice.

    once before.

that's such a beautiful color. I'm not sure how hard it would be, but with a little bit of work, it might be possible to make one into a 4x4.

I once almost bought a '99 Navigator with a Lightning motor installed. It had retained the 4wd system, was pretty freaking cool.

I like the idea of the SRT8 Grand Cherokee and the Trailblazer SS since they combine high hp motors, SUV utility and road gripping AWD.

Getting the back end out on the Lightning was never too much fun, those things are just kind of scary sideways, not where near as managable as my Mustang is.

what stopped you from buying it?

The Jeep is nice, but the exhaust location means you can't tow anything with it. There was a pretty cool article in C&D between the trailblazer SS & Jeep SRT8.

there's hardly any weight back there, which makes a lot of things harder. I put a FWD car nearly sideways on a gravel road due to gross stupidity. Didn't crash, but looking at one ditch to almost immediately looking at another ditch isn't much fun. the steering wheel went from full lock one way to full lock the other way. I'm pretty lucky too since instead of looking where I wanted to go down the road I was looking at a bunch of corn.
