i think they should have blown them out of the water.
Its only a matter of time before they stop fucking around and do so.
Then of curse Iran will bitch about it...
Yup. Should've blown those Miami Vice boats and those dirty-bearded "persians" back to Allah's Snackbar
yes if they have the block1 bravo mod installed...as long as they are more than like 50 feet away from the cruiser and probly similar from the destroyer
ignorance is bliss.
I was thinking the same thing.
What do u think would have happened if we attacked the ships?
it's a fladbed boat
I don't know why this amuses me so much
Their approach to the naval vessels can very easily be taken as hostile intent.
If we did, Iran would cry and we would have this huge pussy hurt debate over it with about 64 thread on OT.
So I just found out about this, and a guy from my boat just recently transferred to the USS Ingraham.
Supposedly a kid was ordered to fire on the boats by the CO (without following protocol) and the kid freaked for the 15 secs it took for the cease fire to come down, and he's gonna go to mast.
just the freaking boat is fucking carrying the god damn Cole for christ sakes , epic picture.
I'm surprised there wasn't more "active denial" going on. (The action, not referring to speach)
Never thought bigger ships had a chance against smaller ships untill I saw this vid on youtube from the G8 protests last year. This is German Navy btw:
Coast Guard should have never left DoD. At the very least Navy has the responsibility to get more of this capability.
what do you mean, active denial against small craft with a ship?
There's systems out there that will drive a person batshit insane / deaf / explode his heart if he pushes too close to the ship. One in particular that I'm thinking about is the directed sound speaker. It's uses are nearly boundless in that if I'm on guard post and you're on the next one down, I can turn the speaker towards you and you to me and we can have a conversation 300yds apart at normal volume and noone who isn't in that directed beam of sound can hear. Step 2yds each way and noone would hear the convo. Turn the speaker to someone approaching your post and you can direct him to stop 500yds out in a calm voice...if he continues you can turn the volume up to make it sound like the voice of god...if he still continues you can turn it up to eardrum shattering and finally you could theoretically burst his heart if you go all the way up to 10. (volume 2 is used for conversation)
Another one that I'm thinking of is the one that emmits radiation and boils the top 2 layers of the skin. I'm not sure the boats were close enough or they were in a situation that either of these systems could have been used, but these are examples of "Active Denial" where the intruder enters into a space and his level of pain / discomfort is decided by the intruder and how close he wants to get.
This one is awesome. I know someone who tested it and he said it is insane how much it hurts.
Saw the first one on an episode of future weapons I think.
ahhhh yea, i saw that on future weapons, that would be a really good idea to get on ships, never thought about that, we have the SLQ-32 on the ships that can burn the shit out of people with radiation, but its not very directional to aim at small craft, i believe its against geneva conventions to use in that way....
I think they've almost got it cleared through the geneva conventions review board. Last I heard anyhow.
well, with where the are mounted on the ships right now, it wouldnt be hard to put them on a motorized mount and make it able to aim at the water line...so i hope they do allow it. i think the noise thing would be cooler though...heh
