I now wear one when i squat above my body weight (160 :mamoru: )
im a big believer in strengthening stabilizer muscles, but do you draw the line at some point when you are risking injury?

and do you believe belts prevent hernias?

    FUCKING CHRIST!!!

Belts do not prevent injuries. They compensate for a undeveloped core to allow you to lift more weight. I generally put a belt on around 400-500lbs but that is becuase my goal is to lift as much as possible. I have pulled 585 for reps without a belt in the past.

usually throw it on when the weight gets heavy

    they don't prevent injuries

easy to work on stabilizer muscles with heavy accessory work

been wearing it for everything as of late. even motherfucking delts. I dont care. I fucked my back up 3 weeks ago and RAN to the doctors scared as a little boy in michael jacksons bedroom. Going to make sure my back is secure and supported for a while now. may not prevent an injury but it doesnt hurt wearing it IMO.

    Don't wear a belt til you're at 300+ squats/deads
Even then, it's not really required. Most people here who squat/pull over 400 won't use a belt.

yes but if you can't squat 225 without a belt you should either fix the weak points or /yourself and find a new hobby

    Possibly.

But let's put it this way, I squat 405 @ 200lbs bodyweight. Relative to me, you should be squatting 320lbs.

I use to not use a belt for anything. Then I'd be doing something and bend a different way and feel a rush of pain go up my spine. Now I wear one when deadlifting 405+ and squatting 365+
