It seems like he's the perfect replacement to Bob Sapp. Huge and scary looking, but not too good of a fighter. It seems like they are trying to build him up so he can get beat by top Japanese talent later on?

I don't understand the hate for James, if he's getting pushed good for him. He's had something like 5 fights in pride now, it's about time he steps up to a better opponent.

He's a big guy who plays to the fans, he's aggressive, he moves well, he's fairly well rounded and he's active. He fights at 120mph and has had all finishes in his pride fights.

But i guess you guys would rather watch kevin jordan, gonzaga, brad imes and tim sylvia plod around the octagon.

Yeah, I think the hate is overrated. Iit all probably stems from his fight against Alex. It definately put him in a bad light. (I suppose not being able to finish off Severn didn't do much for him either.) Then the video helped push it over the edge. He's not the best fighter out there, but he's not the worst, especially in Pride. He's no Zulu, or Giant Silva, or any of the tons of other cans that Pride employs at least.

Not to mention his only pride loss was to Fedor's bro who is a top contender.

besides the bandwagon on sherdog, most people don't actually hate the guy as a fighter, but the cracks made on him are still funny :o

  18. I agree I think he's a good fighter. He just got caught against one of the hardest hitters ever, Aleks

Thompson is an ideal can, much like Gary Goodridge - I wouldnt fault them for "pushing" him.

I recently met James, he spent roughly a month at ATT preppring for his fight on the 5th,

James is a nice guy with good skills. Very difficult to sub but not a big sub threat all the same.

    I wish him well.
