I just started with calorie king and I added a sub from subway... and it certainly seems tastier than the calories they mention :hs: I looked on subways nutri info and it appears as though it's correct (must get it from there) but I just don't believe it...

    what did you get?

some stores don't necessarily put the exact amount of shit based on the rating.

didn't go yet. planning on 6" double chicken teriyaki :dunno:

thise supposedly has 490 cals, 7g fat, 43g protein, 65g carbs (whole wheat bread, no cheese/sauce)

so if I add cheese and a bit of mayo it's like

640 cals, 22.5g fat, 45g protein, 66g carb... doesn't seem all that bad to me but it tastes delicious :dunno:

    for example.
if it has a sauce, usually the store won't measure the sauce or mayo or whatever to the specified amount. so it will be close but not exact

:werd: I know that - I meant the meat quality/content and bread etc.

I had a turkey breast smothered in gravy today that apparently has 6g fat, 18g carb, and 90g protein. A similar private label product has like 28g carb (24 of which is fibre), only 6g of fat and like 80g of protein ... these are both turkeys smothered in gravy... doesn't make sense to me :o

also, i noticed subway's nutrition info never accounted for adding any kind of dressing or cheese, and some vegetables. dunno if that's changed now

That's for the "6g of fat or less" subs, the others do count cheese. Read the little writings :p
Subway pretty much makes his money based on this so they must be accurate. For most countries though the companies have a 20% margin of error that they are allowed because they can't always produce the same products because the meat might be a little fattier from time to time or stuff like that. That's what they are allowed PLUS there are companies which tend to make "mistakes" since they have the responsibility to give the info themselves to the regulating agency.

When was the last time you heard of a company being sued for this particular reason? The 20% margin of error is valid in most countries and for most small companies, no one really takes the time to verify the claims...

i work for a food company and i watched them process quarter pounder and bic mac patties. they have a precise blending of meats to create the perfect fat to protein ratios. every couple minutes they pull one out and measure the content and cook it and taste it too.

I don't think they lie about the information but people always change the calories by customizing their food and forget to add that in their calorie calculations. Companies also mess with protion sizes.

It's easier for big companies to do that but it's not always possible for little companies.

yeah, i was making the point it's somewhat misleading by not including cheese or anything other than meat/bread/lettuce in their nutrition info. did not know about the margin of error though

not misleading to me, or you, or others on this board, but to the 'general public' it was. i know a few people that own/have owned subways, and i'm talking about what i've heard from them.

people don't seem to know or want to know that 6g of fat or less does not include mayo or cheese. perhaps we have different definitions of misleading

It's not the companies' responsibility if people are dumb...
