Typically, item is purchased and then dealer/seller has you fill out paperwork etc.

Buy can paid in full but it stays at the dealer, send off paperwork, wait months, dealer calls you to pick up can.

that blows to have it sit at the deal for that long while the paperwork is approved. i'd rather be approved then buy it. i guess i'm just not very trusting

It's an even longer wait if the dealer doesn't have stock and the manufacturer has to submit a Form 3 to transfer the can to the dealer once it's made. This is my situation 2 weeks to make can 3-4 weeks for form 3 to process. Then I submit my paperwork and wait anywhere from 3-6 months for me to get it. Thankfully my Class III dealer is also has a firing range, he'll let me shoot it while my paperwork is going through.

I typically dont buy shit unless I can put my hands on it and walk out the door with a completed Form 4 for me to mail off.
