My sister got a MacBook since shes going off to college, and I already got her Office 08. Is there anything else software, or even hardware, wise that she will need so I can get it for her now before she is calling me 4 hours before her assignment is due.

edit: what about .zip's, rar's, and torrents?

Preview comes on all Macs and will display PDF files. ZIP files are handled by the OS without any need to install any additional software. RAR files can be handled by RAR Expander or MacPAR deLuxe. Transmission is a great BT client.

Nope, PDF was created by Adobe, daughter.

Preview which comes with the OSX is much like the image viewer that comes with XP, only it can read PDFs as well.

As for Zip files, just double click and they will be taken care of. Or you can get StuffIt Expander and it will open zips and rar and others, but not create.
You can create zip files; just control-click on the file/folder you want to zip and select Create Archive

safari also has preview controls built in to view pdfs and loads them in a new tab when clicked

What's Inquisitor? I run FF because I find it much faster than Safari.
