Target carries the Brinkmann 3Watt LED and it's only $30.

They make it in both rubber/plastic and metal. It's a great light for the money. Takes 3AAA's and runs forever.

I urge you to test one out, I promise you will not be disappointed.

Rubber / Plastic looks like this

I have a couple as nightstand lights, which they are great for. Really bright, and like you said, the run time is great.

They are kind of bulky though, defintiely not something you'd be looking to carry in your pocket.

Not a fan. One of my coworkers has one and pitted up against my Inova T4 (nowhere NEAR what I consider a truly bright light) it looks weak.

Some of the best deals going right now in price and light output are the lights being made by Lumapower, Olight, and Dereelight.

They are simply stunning with their high efficiency cree led modules.

I'm ordering my wife one this weekend by lumapower that is a single CR123A with approx 140 lumens at the emitter.

Then I'm picking up a Dereelight (similar to Lumapower's MRV) that is rated for 250 lumens at the emitter. With an 18650 cell I would get 2.5 to 3 hours of runtime out of said light.

I believe the light I'm purchasing for the wife will run for 1 to 1.5 hours on a single CR123A.

You really can't get too caught up in the wattage anymore because comparing a 3 watt luxeon to a 3 watt cree (among other examples) is like apples to oranges.

First off, I apologize if I came off before as trying to put you down about your recommendation of the light above. I did NOT mean to come off that way if I did. If the light works for you, fantastic. I thought about it after I hit "send" and though, "you know, he's probably going to think I'm some kind of elitist prick now". LoL

Gimme a second, my next post will have links to a couple of different lights for you to check out.

 no not at all - I just like to be informed :o I have no idea what cree even is. I claim to be flashlight crew but I'm a disappointment :hs:

I was big into maglites and crap back in the day modding mine out and stuff.

I'm no expert myself but I sure like to play with 'em.

For ultrabright (put surefire and streamlight to shame) for a lot less money go for a dereelight.

    http://www.dereelight.com/dbs-3m.htm

For lights that are cheaper (three of the below are the same light with different version of same cree module for increased output) but still perform great go to these...

THIS is the one I'm buying my wife.

    http://www.batteryjunction.com/digital-lumapower-dmini.html

Last one in this line of lights with the highest price and highest output.

    http://www.batteryjunction.com/specialedition-lumapower-dmini.html

Then there is the Olight. This thing has fantastic output for the price. I'm just picky and don't like the look.

    http://www.batteryjunction.com/specialedition-t10-olight.html

I recommend you buy from battery junction as well. They have EXCELLENT customer service, good prices, and get the order out in a very respectable amount of time. I've ordered twice from them and getting ready to order again. I know several others that have ordered multiple times with zero issues. Good people.

I'm not certain but it is my belief that the Q5s will perform differently based upon the circuitry used between them. Reason I say this is that in comparisons of the Lumapower MRV and the Dereelight (very similar lights in just about every way) the Deree consistently outperforms it in lumen output.

What is the range there? Thats pretty impressive. You will definitely get better output with the Q5.

I put a cree led in that brinkman's incandescent cousin and it performs quite well, the output doesn't seem worlds better but it does have better spill and much longer run time.

I have the DX Cree drop-in for my G2. It puts out about ~100 lumens and has great battery life. I'm happy.

 stuff in here. Personally, I'm probably just going to mod my 4D maglight when the current bulb and the spare are dead.
