    A full on studio.

I don't now but will again in the future. I miss it.

Schools studio had 1 grey cove, 6 shooting bays, tons of backdrops, booms, stands, ladders, snoots, flags, everything ya know, and alot of everything. For lights we could use white lightnings or normans, but i preferd the normans cause they added a element of danger. We had softboxes from 2 foot to 15 feet, gridspots, reflectors, umbrellas, mirrors, black cards it was awesome. I think the best part of the whole thing was the look of a studio with a bunch of modeling lights goin on and the darkness + flashes firing now and then. Got the music playin on the loudsystem.

Oh well, i will have it all again someday, and for now i am left to more natural methods of lighting.

Anyways if you shoot in a studio whats yours like? Are you the owner of the studio?

    This studio looks pretty nice.

current place doesn't have room for one (too low of ceilings) but we're moving soon and that would be a definete plus to a new place

turning down brooks students is always interesting

the ones who make it are the ones who would have made it without school, they have skills...you can know everything about lighting, cameras, blah blah blah and still not make it if you don't have the personality.

any time you have an arts school you get many:greddy: kids

but the fact remains that there isn't a better school around for learning the technical side. as for bring out creativity, teching the business side, and learning how to make it, well a lot of that just can't be taught anywhere.

some are the best around, many flop and get stuck as assistants or camera salesman.

other photographers have a love or hate feeling towards the school.

Brooks is the worst at that. the admissions reps are salesman and promise the world. I was atleast smart enough to not believe them, but many weren't. And thats why they are in big ass trouble with the state.

but they are still great at providing a technical background, you just have to have the drive, heart and skills to go with it.

seriously who is going to belive they are going to be getting 6 figures and job of choice when the leave?

Photography has a long tradition at The Ohio State University, dating back to the 1880's when it offered the first University credit course in the medium. Three professors and visiting artists form the core of the Photography program and cover all aspects of photographic production. A part-time technical assistant supervises the photographic facilities which are located in Haskett Hall and include: a black and white labs, a color gang lab with 30'' processors for C prints, an alternative processes lab, large print lab, enlargers and view cameras through 8'' x 10'', and a lighting studio. The Photography area now incorporates digital medium and has a digital photo lab with 22 Mac stations, 8K film recorder, 4 flat bed scanners, 4 - 17'' Epson printers and two 44'' 9800 printers.

Students in Photography are actively encouraged to interact with professors in other areas of the Art Department, as well as various academic areas in the University community such as the Art & Technology program. There is access to other state of the art Macintosh labs utilizing 3D modeling software through the Fergus Gilmore Computer Studio. The Fine Arts Library houses the Rinhart Collection of daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, tintypes, and 19th-century paper prints, as well as a collection of 20th-century prints. The library also houses over 6000 photographic titles, which constitutes one of the top five university collections in the country.

When I went to Brooks there wasn't any of that shit. Then again, they were just starting the cinematography side of the school and they were in a learning phase themselves.

yeah, I imagine 20+ years would do that :o
but then again the PJ, cine and graphic design areas are still way behind the commercial side :hs:

PJ goes digital on the 2nd class, Commercial like a year and a half in. Film is great to learn and all, but chances are most won't ever use it again and the amount if puts you in the whole economically ftl
