A buddy of mine just started lifting again and wanted me to go with him. He lives like 30min from his gym so i just met him at his house and rode with him. Before we left he put 3 scoops of whey into about 10oz of milk, drank that, did 3 scoops of super pump250 with like maybe 6oz of water and grabbed a energy drink out of his fridge. Then on the way there he bought a 50pc nugget from McDs and ate probably 30 of them in the parking lot. Hes like 5'10 150 and said he needs to take more super pump, the 3 scoops isnt enough. :ugh:

Any of you guys like this? I tried to tell him hes doing it wrong but yeah he wouldnt listen. He told me you need to eat before working out, gives you energy. Obviously i wont be taking any advice from him for awhile.

He's gonna drop dead at 50 eating like that haha. I usually have some kind of carbs and protein and vegetables. Definitely carbs though.

I asked him if he always gets McDs. He said nah, sometimes he gets a meatball sub from subway, other times a couple volcano burritos from Taco Bell. But i guess those dont mix well with the SP250

Nothing wrong with having protein before workout as well, but I would definitely make sure to get carbs in first

I would coat the entire gym in puke if I ate something like that right before the gym.

I eat a full meal (little fat) between 1 hr and 1 1/2 hrs before the gym, depending on what it was.

Then I make a shake with whey and gatorade either before I leave, or before I walk into the gym. My workouts have been much better since I started doing the preworkout shake, much easier to get through the entire workout

I don't think I could eat anything only 30 minutes before, either my stomach would have issues or I wouldn't be putting in enough effort at the gym.

That said, him being only 150, I'd say a pre-workout meal is good since I'm hoping one of his goals is to put on mass. That said, he's getting in like > 2000 cal there which is a little ridiculous.

For me, if I'm just doing cardio/morning then I don't like to have anything beforehand. Otherwise I'll have a meal like 2-3 hours beforehand - like some tuna and 1/2 cup rice or shake or something not 50 fucking nuggets or a meatball sub :ugh:. Recently I've been doing a lot of the controlled lab products before/during as well or instead of eating beforehand.

Protein shake, piece of fruit, 1/2 tbsp PB, multi vitamin (30-45min prior)

    After work out,

2x protein shake (w/ Creatine monohydrate), 1.5 cups of cinammon toast crunch, or 2 scoops of powder gatorde, or... around 50g of fast carbs.

Yeah I usually have something as I don't like to go on a completely empty stomach. But I wait about 1-1.5 hours before I start lifting.

    3/4 cup of oats
    1 scoop of whey
    1 serving of almonds

I have zero fucking energy if I try to lift on an empty stomach. I used to be able to handle it, but I'm just so god damn starved!!! lately I eat pretty much right before going to the gym. Sucks having a full ass belly, but it usually subsides within the first 10-15 minutes there. My pre-workout meal isn't anything specific, just whatever meal in the day falls before the gym.

I could eat an entire pizza and do squats right after. Never affected me :)

I was never able workout after a meal. It gives me indigestion and I feel sick after about 10min.

I usually eat a meal about 1.5-2 hours before the gym. Some people don't have a problem with eating a huge meal and then working out (like my workout partner) but if I have a large meal I need a good 2-3 hours before hitting the gym.
If I'm really hungry I can have something small like a protein bar or protein shake before hand and be fine.

There's nothing wrong with your friend wanting to eat right before, assuming it doesn't bother him. But eating 3 scoops of whey + 3 scoops superpump + 30 nuggets is stupid in about 5 different ways.

    I hate you.

My stomach sucks. If I ate a pizza I would need a good 3-4 hours before being able to workout. I'll eat chicken breast and rice and still need about 1.5 hours.

I think my GERD is largely to blame though. When I was younger I no problems eating and working out.
