lol, I just changed my cam so it's in live view, can't say I like it.

Which mode do you shot it and for what reason? Is it important or is it just a matter of what you find yourself the most comfortable with? :dunno:

Never used it for any other real purpose other than playing around to see what it does.

i can't figure out how to autofocus in live view on my d300.

maybe it doesn't do it, or maybe i'm stupid.

either way I only use liveview for tripod night photography so I can put the cap over my viewfinder.

Never use it. I'm just used to looking through the viewfinder. I feel like if I started from a P+S and moved to a new D-SLR with Live View I'd prob. use it a lot more. I remember being confused as to why D-SLRs didn't have that when I first got my D70s 2 1/2 years ago.

Only time I use live-view is to do cheater WB testing.

I'll go into live view and change the WB to my desired outcome.

I can tell that live view wasn't really meant to be used (in the P+S fashion) on the 40D. I use it for precise focusing at 10x through my telescope right before I start shooting and for drift aligning my scope I use it at 10X and use the "10X" on the LCD as a sort of reference point.

Thats exactly what I do when Ive taken pictures of the moon. Id use it more if I did macro photography too I suppose.

I rarely use it. pretty much the only time that i do use it is when i am shooting at some weird obscure angle that i couldnt look through the eye piece for.

same here. works pretty well for that, actually, since you can zoom in 10x and manually focus

I only use it when I can't look through the eyepiece or when I need the shutter volume to be lower.
