The standard manual for the D90 is good, but sometimes hard to read and understand what they mean. I really like Ken Rockwell's guide, where is explains a bit on what the things do and examples.

Are there any books out there like this? I see like 60,000 books on amazon for the D90, but just wondering if anyone has a preference in make... like lantern or dummies or something.

Take a look at them. Go down to your local Barnes & Knoble and pick them up, read a sample chapter, and see which one you'll like more.

Any camera specific book is basically gonna be an expanded user-friendly user's manual. it doesn't really matter which one you grab. Perhaps look at the authors, and do a little research on them, see if there's any of them that strike a chord with you.

sweet. i really like ken's explanations, but he's opinionated. hard to trust if what he says is what i should do
