not really 'scheduled' in the sense that, say ill take the 3rd week of september off and hit it hard until then. its more, i start having insomnia kind of often, sleep in easily till noon+, less motivation to hit the gym, etc. and ill just take week or so off.

I try to schedule a week off every 6 months or so. I usually feel pretty refreshed when I come back. Too bad I'm usually too reluctant to take that week off when it comes up.

Depends. I try and take a deload every three or six weeks. Usually if gains stall or I am just gettin really tired, I deload at the end of my three week training cycle. If I am okay, go through another and deload after the sixth week for sure. I had problems in the past with burnout and fatigue.

a deload is basically a week where you give your body a break before trying to make it adapt again. usually you still train but at a much lower intensity, nothing too hard, taxing or to failure

I take two full weeks off every 6 weeks. During this time I just eat a lot and recover.

i generally take 2-3 weeks off a year. i know i need it when i have intense, focused workouts, eat well, but my lifts start going down. feels great to get a rest and go back at it refreshed. the key is to eat as much as possible during your week off, or you'll lose too much weight. i feel like i damn near lost 20 lbs the last time i took a week off. :hs:

I'm gonna start doing it every three weeks. Three weeks of lifting, two weeks of eating.

I'm feeling a little overtrained though, so for the next few months I'm going to switch my schedule up to:

    Week 1: Bench
    Week 2: Squat
    Week 3: Dead
    Week 4: Military Press

followed by a 1 month deload. This will give me a 4 training sessions per month followed by a needed deload period. I'm looking forward to it.

    he hasn't been...

the point he is making is that 90+% of people never lift hard enough to need a deload

i try to get a week off every 3 months. it's usually not planned, but if I know there is a vacation coming up, I'll slot it in somewhere.
