I feel like the images I got out of my XT were cleaner than the images from my 30d. Does anyone else feel the same way when they moved up?

That's because you spent more time thinking about the photo than just relying on the better camera to do it for you.

The images I use to get from a 1970's Hassleblad were better than what I can get from my 5D.

But times change and I have to change with them.

I think you're crazy, the 30D trashes the XT (and XTi) as far as image quality.

The more I learn, the more I think about the shot, the worse I think they come out. But from the prespective of others who don't know the technical side of it, they think they're awesome!!! Me, I don't because I'm too critical of my own stuff. I think it has to do a lot with the understanding of it and not the honeymoon phase of the learning curve. I'm sure once I learn a lot more about other things like off camera lighting, I'll be crtical of myself for that too and think my pics aren't worthy of praise.

I think this is right. I'm my own worst critic and have gotten worse over time. I don't really like many of my pictures anymore and don't even carry a camera with me if I know I'm not going to be able to do something worth while with the pictures. Man, I'm fucked up.

I also don't like to post process much anymore, because I can't ever decide what direction I want to go with the pictures.

    Life sucks.

Considering I came from Film point and shoots and a 3MP point and shoot, no. XT is great for my purposes.

I think that if your post processing is a journey then it might be a bit much.

I was thinking the same, I recently upgraded from the XT to the XSI and so far I'm somewhat disapointed. But I've seen awesome results from others with the XSI......it's the whole reason I upgraded.....so I know I just need to play around more with the camera and get used to it.

probably because you were much more excited to use your previous camera, and thought it shitted gold...with the new camera, you have 10x more expectations. I got the same feeling from my 20D to the 40D

i think to use both would be best. the Zeiss lenses that hasselblad used were superb. I dont know if you had the 40/4 but if i had a Hassleblad it would never come off, and id save for a digital back.

I can't recall what lenses we had (this was at a studio where I worked for a couple of years) but we had just about any lens you could want. The thing I liked about the 'blads was that you could flash sync at any shutter speed!

I've shown something to people in camera and said "see this is a throw away" and they look at me like I'm dumb:o

I don't do the "process everything and let the client sort it out" shit. I know some people who will shotgun everything and then run filters, presets, actions etc on it all and present it to the client/model...I just can't do that if I don't like the shot it doesn't make it past bridge.

No, I try not to downgrade by buying a new camera, nor forget everything I know about photography when purchasing a new camera... part of the reason I haven't bought a 50D.

Don't get me wrong, I've gotten some great pictures out of my 30d, but the image quality out of the xt just seemed to be a little better (low ISO or course)

From a D70s to a D700: No. The camera doesn't make the shot, I do, but the D70s limited me a lot more.

I guess the XT and 30d are too close in image quality. I just felt the clarity was better form the XT.

I can't say I agree, having owned an XT, XTi, and 30D. IMO the 30D is far better than the XT or XTi...
