I was rolling with a guy last Sunday, and I noticed while we were rolling my arm got stuck in a wierd position where I felt some shearing pain for a few seconds. I noticed later that I had a giant bruise with purple stretch marks on my right bicep. :sad2:

I think it might leave a scar or two, perhaps I should leave my gi on next time. :mamoru:

Or I might by a rash guard, if I can find a good one.

Does anyone have any similar experiences or advice?

Those are the facts of grappling. Get more experience and you will find that, atleast in my case, those kinds of things happen much less frequently.

I get bruised from getting caught in certain subs like calf crushers, bicep crushers, and when I apply straight ankle locks (my forearms). And my knees when I take shots, but thats about it.

likewise but for ass hair :wtc: (GI)

I never really bruise anymore, occasionally i get small ones from weird scrambles but that's about it.

After i first started doing judo i had bruises all over my arms, legs and chest. Now i don't even get them anymore. I guess i got used to the impact. Now that i do bjj aswell i still don't get them.

yeah everyone gets em at first. over time your body will become conditioned and it happens less and less.

I just had my lip busted open... again.

People get too excited over the RNC and end up whacking me in the lip with their arm.

i always get my lip split

I think i probably inflict more bruises on people, my knees and elbows are always moving rapidly so i occasionally give people accidental knocks

when I roll it is not uncommon to get a bleeding nose, lots of scratches, bruise here and there... its just part of the sport.

The last time I got my lip split was by a woman who didn't pull an elbow strike in time.

Right now I'm wearing a nice bruise just under my ribs (left side) from a well excecuted kick.

Crazy, you should have checked it out. Its a great place to train with a lot of guys who know what they are doing. I was pretty pleasently surprised with the people and the attitudes there.
Are you no longer in Van?
