Do you add any fruits/veggies to your protein shake/drink?

    Or is it a bit of an overkill? Whether it's a preworkout shake or recovery drink, do you add anything else besides the powder + water/milk?

    Theres nothing wrong with adding extra into your shake. If it tastes good then go for it.

    Some weirdos mix whey with gatorade for the pwo sugar

    and insulin boost after your workout is important, and fructose lets that happen.

    i love tossing a half dozen strawberries in a shake.


    i've done mangos too.

    bananas sometimes, but usually just scoop, water, shake, down it.

    Have there been any articles posted about the benefits of insulin boost? I'm curious to know why it's necessary aside from curbing the carb cravings.

    i keep protein shakes and vegge/fruit's seperate. I dont mind sipping on a a veggie/fruit smoothie but wouldnt sip on a protein shake

    I have read a few things stating that the insulin spike will put your body in an anabolic state, as opposed to the catabolic state that would normally occur post-workout

    everybody knows that the window after a workout is critical, so it only makes sense that the quicker you can get the sugar in - the better.

    In the ON chocolate I throw in half a banana sometimes with a glass of milk. Tastes pretty good.

    I'll do bananas, blueberries, "mixed fruit medley" blah blah blah, then add some vanilla extract to kick it up a notch.

    Blackberries, Blueberries, and Strawberries sometimes. Mostly for color :dunno:

    Scoop of ON chocolate, some oats, and a handful of almonds or walnuts. I lift first thing in the morning so I prefer to get a balanced "meal" beforehand.

    more calories = more bulk

    stuff like strawberries will take much more to get calories, so add lots of bannana and PB

    2 scoops whey
    2 tsp PB
    1 Banana
    2 scoops ice cream
    6 whole eggs
    2 cups milk

    if you want a bulk shake :)
    (~1000kcal I believe)
