Ill try to scan this article in Guns and Ammo's Book of the AR-15 mag I have. This gun is pure tits.

I guess they have an actual dedicated mag now, instead of modifying an M14 magazine.

For that price let's hope it comes with the optic, the supressor and the transfer fee.

    Why 7.62?

Isn't 5.56 more accurate out to further? Or does it not matter because the max speed of the bullet is limited by the speed of sound?

very sexy rifle. I had an armalite 5.56 target model with the stainless barrel, and I loved it. They make quality firearms.

:werd: Why even bother putting it on an AR platform when the M14 is already such a solid rifle.

The idea is that having the Sniper System based off the AR platform doesnt scream SNIPER. If you have a squad of guys leaving for a patrol and one of them has a bolt action rifle (I know, not an M1/M14), that may attract unwanted attention. If all members of the squad look alike (to an untrained eye) they would be more likely to slip off unnoticed and get to their intended marksman position without getting pegged as a "sniper" team.

I dunno, thats what I was reading in the article.

That AR-10 is sexy. I'd much prefer a AR-10 over a M1a. Easier to work on and modify, mags drop free, easier to mount optics. Much more win on the AR platform.

As far as designated sniper I would think they could tell that by the optics. If a enemy sniper is looking at a squad of guys he would shoot whoever looked like a high ranking officer than whoever had the biggest scope. Yes generally that is the guy with the bolt gun but if he spied a AR with a high power S&B that would be a serious give away.

If I had a choice for a 7.62 semi auto sniper, it would be the M14 over the M4 platform. more robust.

I think at a glance it would be harder to spot than a bolt gun or a wood stock M14.

I just want the adjustable gas regulator from that rifle...

Fucking Armalite won't sell me one without buying the entire rifle first.

One of the coolest rifles I've seen in a long time was a guy's from SH who had a GAP built AR10 with a carbon barrel. Weighed a little over 10lbs all up, and shot lights out. 308's don't do shit for me, but that gun was tits.

    This is why.

Snipers or at least SDM's who look (almost) just like everyone else in the squad, gear- and weapon-wise.
This was in an actual article somewhere, once upon a time (like 3 years ago :mamoru:) when this was new news.

I remember seeing that rifle at the Armalite booth at the shot show. The adj gas block was very cool. That rifle did weight a ton though.
