    I hope not.

i had grenade training with Ranger Challenge this morning. It's very obviously that some people should stay clear from grenades:ugh:

First of all, you are right that some don't know what they are doing. This is why you have training.

Second, all ROTC cadets will throw a live grenade at their advanced course at Fort Lewis. And they also throw "primered" grenades during the grenade assault course. So get over the grenade fear.

Third, over seas only units that are authorized them receives them. REMF typically do not get them.

Fourth, NEVER FUCKING TAPE THE GOD DAMN SPOON/PIN!!!!!

Fifth, some cadets can't throw the grenades far enough without killing themselves and everyone else around them

I never, ever carried grenades. I had to carry too much other shit and a grenade took up space on my vest that I could use for more useful things.

Not everyone does it. It's against policy, and is dangerous. Especially when you give it to someone else, or you turn it into your ammo guys.

The problem is it adds an element of uncertainty to the ammo handlers. They shouldn't have to open up a grenade can and wonder "is the pin and spoon securely fashioned?"

There have been instances where they have opened up cans, and the spoon, pin, and grenade all come out...not attached to each other.

The reason they are taping is b/c they discard the safety.

that and trying to scare away gypsies.

We used them in building clearing a good deal too. If we took fire from a house in Wardak it was pretty much balls to the wall

I'd rather call some steel rain then throw a grenade.

The Entire BN I was under in Iraq was issued grenades with their base loads. However they were all stored at the ASP and no one ever saw them during the duration they were there.

I taped my grenades, I saw a guy that had a flashbang on his chest go off when he tried to jumped a fence and get caught. 2nd-3rd degree burns down his arms and neck.

when you're out of 155 range and its a 45min wait for air support you use what you've got

Sometimes the mountains were too tall for the apaches to get over so they would have to fly miles away to come down the valley. New unit came in though and they magically could come over the top of the mountains :hsugh:. IDK if pilots were just scared or what

i was offered a few grenades and turned them down. the chances of me using them were slim to none, especially when i had NCOs around me at all times.

after using them in BCT, the appeal of a hand grenade instantly disappeared. they were pretty lame IMO. maybe because all of the war movies over hyped them and i thought they had the explosive power to make bodies fly :ugh:

Have you ever seen a grenade go off in the middle of a pallet of water bottles? AWESOME!

Nope but I have set off a thermite grenade on top of a 6-cube full of DD batteries.
