Hi, I'm CaseLogic's girlfriend and I don't really know much about these forums but he told me to ask you guys about these numbers.

According to one of the threads he showed me, if my lean body mass is 112, with average activity, etc, my daily needs are 2800. That seems a bit high to me, I thought around 2000 was normal for a person. And another questions is how many calories I should try and cut down. I just started counting my caloric intake and I've been taking in about 1500 calories (of course, by changing my eating habits) but I'm afraid that might be unhealthy and maybe i should go back up to about 2000. i also just starting running about 15-20 min. a day, and i play soccer on sundays. what do you guys think?

2800 is way high for someone your size, i don't know where that comes from.

use Mifflin - St Jeor or Harris-Benedict Formula to calculate BMR, and then multiply the results by 1.375 for your activity level. You can use various websites to do this but i think you might as well understand where the numbers are coming from.

once you get a number, remember that it is just a guideline and starting point, you'll have to modify your intake based on results.

You mentioned that 112 was LBM, but what is your overall weight?

Just make sure that if you are running and playing soccer daily, you need to account for those calories spent, depending on your intake for the day.

you guys say 2800 is high, but i used the formula from that thread. It was my LBM x 10 + 500, plus 1.6 for activity level and then thermal effect for food. maybe the activity factor was too high? i weigh 155 right now, tryin to lose a pound a week

fitday is unrealistic. I should be losing 15+ pounds a month by their figures... I put myself at sedentary to get close to what I need for maintenance

females require less calories. Those numbers are likely more geared to men

that formula sucks, use one of the two i gave you. and yes 1.6 is probably high for one day of soccer and a little light running.

Fitday seems to overdo the calorie results by a lot, at least for me. The calculator that was linked is a lot closer to my actual numbers that i've figured out with trial and error.
