I went to this dude's camp on saturday for my gf's birthday just to hang out, get drunk, have a good time, yada yada..

long story short, I took my G34 but I forgot hearing protection, and so did this other dude with an AK and a 10 gauge.

My ears are still ringing. And then later I found a bunch of ear muffs inside the cabin :squint:

I pretty much have to wear hearing protection when I shoot period.

My hearing is fucked up from shooting guns and working on cars without protection etc, that pretty much any loud bang effects my ears. A .22 rifle is about all I can shoot and be safe.

Every time you shoot without protection you experience some hearing loss, whether you notice it or not.

My left ear's been fucked after my friend shot a .308 next to my head, then I shot a .243 with a muzzlebrake beside a house and all of the sound bounced back instead of dissipating.

Of course not, thats not how hearing damage works. Its a gradual damage to your hearing in certain frequencies. Just because you don't notice it doesn't mean it isn't harmful. If I didn't have hearing protection, I wouldn't shoot.

So you've been drinking and shooting again eh?

Anyway, I was at the range and forgot to put in my left earplug when I walked in, and had the luck to clearly hear a .45 in the stall to my left. It was just me and that guy in there, and when I walked in, it was completely quiet. When he shot, I nearly jumped through the ceiling.

I've only fired one shot without hearing protection a .45 and I don't ever want to do it again.

Shot about 10 rounds of 30-06 and 15 rounds of 308 and my ears were ringing for a week. I wont ever shoot without hearing protection again, it sucked balls.

shot 10 rds of .45 out of a ruger once without hearing protection. The ringing went away an hour or two later. Definatly cool to see what it was like, but im definatly wearing hearing protection.

So, you were drinking and shooting?

    And shooting without hearing protection?

Hmmm. I can't see how anything bad would come of that.
