do insurance companies insure salvage cars?

    If by salvage, you mean junk yard cars, then no. If you really mean rebuilt or R-title cars then yes. Technically a salvage car would be considered a totalled vehicle that was never returned to rebuilt status through the state. All this depends upon your state regulations and vehicle code. Here in Pennsylvania its a bitch to get that R-title but can be done, and it is insurable.
