I just want a laptop for normal day use and for sitting/laying in bed and surfing the net. The basic stuff really.

I'm thinking I wont need to drop 2-3k for that.

With a student discount, I can get the 13" Macbook for $1000 shipped or should I just get the upgrade for $1399 with a bigger HD and superdrive?

I'm new to all this, but I'm just really interested.

just get a regular MB then. That's all I've got and I'm amazed at the shit it'll do.

This is my dilemma too. I don't want that small 13.3" screen though :hs: And I think it'd be nice to know that you have a decent gfx card in your notebook. Only reason I really want an MPB is so I feel safe that I'm set for years to come. I'm just hoping they'll drop the price on their MPBs soon at macworld :x:

Probably not going to see a price drop, they are selling too well by all accounts.

Though if they revise them with penryn you will be able to get older ones cheaper probably.

Honestly, the 13.3" screen is perfect for just regualr use, web browsing, email, IM, etc. If you need the bigger screen it's prolly for pshop and the like in which case you'd want the MBP anyway :dunno:

Doesn't sound like you need the mbp, macbook should be enough.

If you think you may do some gaming or video editing (even general stuff) I'd go with the MacBook Pro.

    thanks fellas.

no interest in for gaming or editing so i think the MB would be my best choice.

noticable difference between the 2.0 / 2.2 GHZ?

Shouldn't notice much of a difference between the two.

For what you're going to do with it, not much.

i was in the same dilemma. Went with the MB and I'm very happy. Obviously, sometimes I wish I had a better computer, but I couldn't really justify buying a MBP. (I wouldn't mind some gaming)

I think im just gonna rebuild a cheap PC this summer and game on that :hsd:
