If so, what do you recommend? I get really bad knee pains when direct pressure is applied just below my knee cap. It never bothers me in MT, running or lifting, though.

I've tried them but they annoy me when rolling.

I do. Really low profile wrestling kneepads help me a lot, the gel are the best.

Just make sure to get the tightest comfortable fit, adjusting them every 2 minutes gets annoying.

Try sports authority, I'd post the ones I got but they're junior sizes.

I don't but I need too, I never go for takedowns anymore because my knees hurt like hell afterwards.

This is what I did to get my kneepads, I would go to Garts Bros or wherever and then pretend like I'm trying on a kneepad for size and put it back in another bag that already has a kneepad in it. 2 for 1 deal :) (If you get caught, good luck!)

I had some left over from highschool wrestling, but I just got used to rolling without them. I think my wrestling ones were asics. Just get some gel style low profile ones like said above.

brute kneepads, the gel ones are the best. i've worn them since i started wrestling, tried rolling a while w/o them in bjj and tore my knees up. so i'm back to wearing them again, my sweep single is so much better w/ them than w/o them

asics makes good low profile wrestling ones. Like hillary said, I'd recommend gel ones. I don't like using knee pads in BJJ though especially when you have to start from your knees in class. I always used knee pads because they help you slide across the mat when you shoot.

    yes kneepads help alot

gi + mats = no skin on my knees

EDIT: i used to play paintball alot and knee sliding took alot of skin off my knees back then too so...it was easy for me to pick them up again

    BJJ Suite of armor crew..

    Knee pads
    Ankle Brace
    elbow slip
    headgear
    mouthpiece

jumping in head first and not giving a fuck = priceless.
looking like a douche in practice = fail.
