Free weights, smith machine, or, at the gym I just joined they have this squat machine thing :noes:

I don't like squatting with free weights without a spotter, I have a feeling im gonna break something one of these days :hsugh:

free weights, a spotter doesn't do much good on a squat anyways. That's what they make a power rack for

Squatting with anything but a barbell, weights and power rack is extremely :greddy:

    essentially pussy-fying an awesome lift.

this is a joke, right? I'd say saving your ass from the weight breaking every vertibrae in your lower back is a good thing, but obviously only little bitches use it

Same, when I use the smith machine, I set my legs out to target my quads, its a fucking killer workout.

I disagree, my dad helps me out when I am failing to get one up, just grabs me by mysides and steadies me and pushes me up a bit. Gets me over the edge to finish out a rep.

whaaa? I didn't mean that a power rack was extremely gay. I meant squatting with anything OTHER than a power rack, bar, weight was...

:werd: I'll probably just use the power rack. I was just wondering if the power rack makes that much of a difference over the smith machine :dunno:

Power rack, bar, and weights for me.

I tried the smith machine once about 8 years ago when I was in the army and I didn't like it at all.

    aight gotcha.

do any of you guys have a squat machine at your gyms? The one I got, there is things that go over your shoulders and you just load up the weight and do squats. Its probably garbage.

does a power rack = a squat rack for all intents and purposes? from the side it looks like a rectangle on its side with a triangle sitting on one half of the rectangle and pegs sticking out to allow for multiple heights? or is a power rack a cage? (the four bars on each corner with some beams on the sides)

I prefer free weights, but working my way back to actually doing it. It's been a while since squatting with free weights soo i'm slightly hesitant
