was talkin to some guys over on AFBoard.. he said PL style training 1-2x a week will help with strength and size.. chopping down some movements to heavy (90% 1RM) for a few weeks then going back to a more regular 5x5.

    figured it couldnt hurt.

    ahh

IMO I say stick with what works. If it stops working then change. I stuck with the same routine for over a year. When I stopped making gains I switched. But if you weren't making gains on what you were doing then I'll shut my trap. :)

I agree.. i haven't stoppd making gains, but they've slowed and a switchup after 12 months aint gonna hurt.. if I dont see any changes in either (strength/size), i'll go back to what is tried and true.

    :)

btw, your numbers are fucking good. stop thinking you fail at life.

For some reason deads have always been easy. I hadnt done deads in a long long time but I guess the other lifts I do helped greatly because I ended up pulling 570 but was sore as hell the next day.

5'10" and I go between 190-200. Training off and on for a while. Most of my training has been sport specific and got pretty broken up due to various injuries and lacrosse season. I did deads right after hang clean and I was just having a great day to be honest. I did a few sets before as I really havent dead lifted in a long long time. That was one lift I was always good at since about Jr high when lifting for football but I have never done them consistently. I did a few sets of sumo pull working my way up to about 475 or so and was wondering what I could actually do so I threw that on and got it up. I think I could have gotten more but I really havent ever trained for it but my back and legs were sore the next day simply because of the load...I think anyway. I have pretty long arms so that helps and a short torso. I dont squat very much I usually rep 275 A2G and my max bench Im not sure of as I dont usually train for numbers but rather performance on the field or mats but I was in the low 300's on bench about a year or 2 ago and havent done a max since, I think its probably less than that now. I guess deads are just my natural lift that some people have because squat and bench sure as hell arent. I also do a lot of explosive lifts like hang clean and dumbbell snatch so I think that really helps. Pretty sure I wont be lifting legs for a while though because Im having both of my knees operated on in January.
