Got this idea a while back and then saw a thread on FM about a guy doing it with a cup of noodles.

Well, i went to wal mart tonight and Instead of trying to get a tupperware container that looked like the lightsphere though, i chose to go with one of these:

It's the best 3.88 I've ever spent on photography.

    here are some pics.

Basically all i did was take the attachment that came with my flash and i cut a hole in the bottom of the tupperware to fit that. Then i fitted it on there very snugly and it works great!

I managed to get a few test pics tonight. I didnt have time to setup or anything, not even check my white balance as she is adament about not having her pic taken. I just took 3 pics as fast as i could and she stayed put. pic 4 got me busted and that's where my testing ended.

The first pic is a pic flash forward pointing at her in portrait orientation.

Second pic is portrait orientation with the flash pointed at my white 14' ceiling.

Third pic is the pic with the mr2monstersphere (haha) pointed at the ceiling.

Like I said, the pics aren't wonderful, but it's an example until i can get a better one.

There is NO post processing other than the text and the resize and rotation. These were taken in fine jpg on a Nikon D70 with Nikon SB-800 Speedlight.

meh, works just as good, costs 1/10th the price. doesnt look any worse IMO.

I'm concerned less with image, and more with great images.

keep in mind how many stops you're wasting going through so much semiopaque plastic

additionally all the light exiting behind you is probably being wasted with the way you are most likely shooting with this ....

This isnt something I plan on using on a day to day basis. It's not intended for things like that. It's intended for high ceilings that are very hard to bounce on/dark rooms with tiny ceilings that create eye bags when you bounce. I'm aware of the other ways to get the photo accomplished, but they all look as rediculous as this does unless i just want a super fast lens, or a very slow shutter speed in which case i dont need a flash.

I'm using it the same way a lightsphere is being used. :ugh2:

Stops can be replaced by my flash, I'm not losing lens speed. I'll take the battery usage.

Also, it's actually pretty thin and of the same opaque-ness as the factory omnibounce

not a bad idea. i might have to try something like this. i find myself using my flash quite often outdoors to kill mid-day shadows...

Also, keep in mind that I didnt set up for this at all. I litterally put the flash on the camera and started shooting without even checking settings. I couldnt tell you what the settings were on those.

she has bags in her eyes in all three pictures, if you turned up the EV on the flash in the second photo it would have been a much better shot :lupie:

it's the only one with even lighting and no shadow :lupie:
