    Okay, before I ask...

I have the newest divx codec, and the newest xvid codec.

    now...

why would some divx files play with video and sound, and others with video and NO sound?

    it's driving me nuts:wtc:

well, i believe divx is just a video codec and most have their audio encoded as MP3. maybe these files are using something different for the audio.

i like to use Any Video Converter (for PC) to tell how a particular video file is encoded. you don't have to do the conversion if you don't want, but it'll give you info on the file format.
