    Nothing that isnt tangible is worth 20k /year if you have kids.

    20k / year for an intangible should be 20k you spend on their education or for their retirement (or yours)

    My parents (who have been together 30+ yrs) actually talked about this for a while so they could save money, they never went through with it though - once my brother and I were no longer dependents, they said it didnt make any sense.:dunno:

    well, i hit the alternative minimum tax just by myself. if i were married, we still have the ability to file seperately if we have enough deductions to warrant it. in my case, her measly salary killed my refund because it jumped me to over 40% tax bracket. now, without her, i make a killing...and because i put the max in my pre-tax retirement accounts to lower my tax bracket
