If you could trade your 24" iMac Core2Duo 2.5Ghz w/4GB of Ram for a MacPro about a year old would you do it? Also, what are the big advantages of the MacPro

The only way in hell I would trade my 24" iMac would be if the mac pro came with a 30 inch monitor. Otherwise no thank you.

The advantages of the MacPro is that it's very user custimizable. Its easy to open up and put better components into it versus the iMac which isn't.

There's also the small detail that even the original/base Mac Pro has twice the CPU muscle :squint: 4x+ if you have an 8 way.
I love my Mac Pro. The iMac is a nice desktop machine, powerful for what it is. The Mac Pro is a workstation.

    Mac Pro > *

Answer is yes, any spec. If its an 8 way or one with good video, etc., even more so.

I'd go with the Mac Pro.

Id say if you see yourself upgrading in the near future, then do it. It depends on what you're doing with it also. if you are a basic user, then why get something more powerful than you need, then have to purchase a monitor
