I have 12 rounds of 357 rem mag i need to dispose of. I tried twisting the bullet out of the casing but that was a no go. How else do i get rid of them/make them safe? Firing is not an option.

    thnks

Put it in a vice and use a hammer and nail to deactivate the primer.

Is there a reason you can't dispose of it in the usual way?

Else go to a gun shop and buy a bullet puller. They're $12 or something.

if you can't just give them away or shoot them, just throw them in a lake or some shit.

put the bullet in a vise and pull the casing off, with pliers if nessesary. Throw the bullet and the powder in the trash can. Now put the casing open end down in the vise and use an automatic centre punch to fire the primer off. Its pretty loud but its safe. If you dont take the bullet out first, the whole thing will blow up.

Throw it in a dumpster or just start a dud round jar. Ive got one mainly consisting of .22 and shitty reloads of 38 spl for my grandpas 357
Or pull the bullet and start a powder jar. Then wait and light it all at once in your backyard. It looks pretty

ya lets shoot off 12 primers in my garage so I get lead dust all over my garage. Good idea guys!

pull the bullet with pilers. spread the powder in your yard. Smash the mouth of the casing with same pliers.

Put downrange and shoot with .22

Without a barrel to direct the gases it wont go that far, plus it lets you know when your on target.

i tried the vise and pliers method, it just destroyed the exposed part of the bullet (lead hollow point). I sold the gun that they were for = i cant shoot them off.

I hope thats not the reason youre trying to destroy them. Im sure you know someone who owns a 357. They could use it if its not damaged

Just put them in your closet. You might have a use for them in the future.

Ammo practically lasts forever, there is no reason to destroy ammo just because you no longer own a gun in that caliber, I'm sure you can always come across a friend who owns a gun in that caliber or you may even buy a gun in that caliber again. Just put it on the ammo shelf with the rest of the ammo you have for other guns (somewhere in the back will be fine) The only reason to destroy ammo is if you have suddenly been converted by the brady bunch and think all guns are evil and no one should ever have that ammo.

    .

my dad has a huge unopened bag of Norinco .308. He doesnt even own a .308 rifle. Hasnt since the early 90s. May never own one again, but theres no reason for him to go and deactivate it.

Hell, we have like a couple boxes of 80+year old shotgun shells. We just keep em as a little collectible or something

Im sure half the gun crew has ammo they dont even have a gun for. i know i have 7.62x39 and .308, and .223 that i cant shoot because i dont have a gun for those cals
just put it in the closet for later. everyone needs a .357 revolver eventually anyways.

Who knows when those rounds could point themselves out a window and take out a school bus full of kids.
