I had Windows 98 on an old PC. I formatted the computer and installed Windows 2000. Now the graphics is 16 colour and I cant change it. I don't have any graphics card etc. What do I do/dl to improve the display?

You have a graphics card - you just need to find out which one and install the drivers. Pop the case open to find out.

it might be on your motherboard - do you have any information about your system?

is it a dell or compaq or some other brand name? you should be able to go to their site and find your system's configuration and even d/l drivers.

    1. Trace cable from monitor into computer.
    2. The plug that it plugs into, what is on the other side of it? A card that fits into a slot? Or is the port attached to the MB? If it's the former, then you need to examine the card for markings, if it's the latter, you need to do what Mugatu suggested and trace the MB back to the manufacturer.

Usually when the computer boots up it will tell you what kind of motherboard it is..
