Doesn't matter - keep it in your car anyways. Unless you fall under the explosives exceptions who cares what they say. It became the law July 1st.

and then you sue and win. The law is the law. A company can't "opt out".

If they have a team of lawyers to create company policy, those same lawyers are going to advise them on terminations.

They'd fire him for some BS and let him collect unemployment before firing him because he violated illegal company polices, so they can get sued.

Test them, and you will lose your job. I wouldn't suggest it.

However, I ask you...what's more important being alive and poor, or being shot at work and dieing knowing all of your bills were paid and your parents have a new car and a bunch of shit to sort through?

    Carry your fucking guns.

I'm looking for the text of the law to describe that exemption, because Disney does do a fair amount of fireworks inside the park, which could put it under the explosives. Kind of crappy for the whole company to be under it and not just the department. Plus I would think smoking would be more dangerous than a gun.

While I agree in principle, your odds of being caught with the gun at work are much, much higher than needing it to defend yourself.

What a pointless piece of legislature

Yea I feel better knowing my Glock is sitting in 130 degree heat in my car all day doing nothing for my protection until I finally re-enter my car and go home

Just don't carry a gun and quit driving places, then. You're more likely to die in a car accident than get shot.

:dunno: it's personal preference, but usually the places that don't allow guns in their workplaces are the places most likely to get shot up.

I think the whole point of the legislation was to allow these businesses to prohibit their employees and patrons from carrying inside the building such as the places "posted" but to prohibit them from limiting what patrons and employees carry in their car.

This was probably designed for the guy who works at a place that is posted to not allow CCW in the building, but the guy has to drive through a rough neighborhood to and from work, or something. The guy has a CCW, and since he's going to work he has no other place to put the weapon other than his car since he can't carry on his person.

Someone did bring up the heat issue. While I don't live in florida, i do visit, and I can imagine it'd get about as hot as anywhere in the country. Any risk to leaving a firearm with one in the chamber inside a car on a 100+ degree day? Mythbusters anyone?

In a car I doubt that it would be an issue, the heat and cool might degrade the performance of the powder.

this is from the MSDS sheet for Winchester Smokeless Powder (or at least certain ones to serve as reference.)

    http://www.wwpowder.com/data/propellants/msds/index.php

    that's 374 to 392 Deg.F

I've lived in FL my whole life and I have never gotten into a car that I thought was remotely near that hot.

Though later on it says storage is to be below 38 Deg.C (100 Deg.F) which in FL the outside temp can clear and inside a car would be worse. However that is probably to prevent accelerated decomposition.

Is that stat true about issuing ccw's to people convicted of rape and murder? Coming from the Brady Campaign it's probably embellished a ton but that doesn't seem right.

did the guy hes talking about in kansas/kentucky, whatever state, that went o his car at work to get a gun have a permit for it?

i hate when they try to throw illegal crimes into the mix and generalize law-abiding citizens in with the criminals just b/c a gun was involved
