guys i dislocated my shoulder last night. As of now i have about 80% movement /ROM. It really hurts to just to raise it above my head and like i was going to scratch my back. That's about it.

How long do you guys estimate i'll be 100%?

i foresee lots of cardio and lower body workouts for the next few weeks. :sigh:

    keep it stable

do you have a sling for it?

i'm guessing it'd take about 2-4 weeks if you have "80% ROM"

if you don't have a sling, just don't abduct, hyperextend, or externally rotate at a great degree

:werd: I've done it a lot and it just gets easier to mess up again. When it happens i can recover usually in 3 weeks.

    How did you dislocate it?

    sigh,

i was going over to pick my little brother up from some girls place. He started screaming for me to get over to him. He jokes around a lot so I kinda just laughed it off. Then the next thing i notice was he and some other dude were beat the hell out of each other. So I ran over there, pulled the guy off him and started punching him in the face. lol THen two more dudes came out (I didnt see them at the time my back was turned) one threw me off the 1st guy and I guess it was so sudden and the way I spun and hit the ground I dislocated it there.

so what the fuck am I going to do in the gym now? I cant just stop lifting and shit. :(
Today, I did just hella cardio, abs, and legs. This really fucking blows.

    no

it doest feel like anything is torn. Like I said I have 80% ROM maybe more. It feels like a mild sprain. I guess if it doesnt "feel" like it's getting better by middle of next week my ass will be at the doctors.

how do you know what happened then

maybe you didn't dislocate, maybe you tore a ligament

you just can't go around diagnosing yourself

don't mean to be cruel..just saying

I'm on my 4th month of recovery. It sucks a fat dick, It hurts all the time- just aches..I can still do everything but I'm quite certain I'm going to need surgery...not the first time its happened to me.

6-9 months to get it feeling nice and tasty again...in my experience.

thats true, but it was definatly dislocated. I had to get a buddy to pop it back into place once we got home. :( But like i said if it still hurts like all hell next week, i'll probably go to the doctor.

:ugh: Your shoulder was out for how long? I usually see shoulder dislocations on the football field, and those guys are in so much pain they're barely capable of moving.

If I remember correctly from one of my classes, a true dislocation has to be reduced by a doctor.....maybe it was just a sublux??

it can be put back into place by someone other than a doctor (i've seen it done), but the person has to have some idea of how to manuever it..and it takes a lot of work

it's possible he put it back into place..and it could have been a sublux.

but at this point, i'd be concerned about torn ligaments and damaged cartilage...I remember when I subluxed my shoulder, I actually popped it backin place (with the help of an athletic trainer)

    here's some info on it.

Initial E: I hope you get well and everything is alright with your shoulder
