I know someone on here has promoted a disk imaging program before but can't remember the name. Anyone know of a good one, preferrably freeware but it doesn't have to be?

Also, does anyone know of any good backup programs? The intention here is for my dad to back up photos etc to an external hard drive when the drive is turned on (the drive will not always be on). Again, freeware is preferred but not required.

:werd: on SyncToy... i use it often with work stuff. One thing to note.. its a manual backup type of thing (as far as i know, anyways)... i don't think you can schedule it or make it run when the external drive is turned on.

Still... it should serve your dad's purpose.

Yeah it does. When I was first going through the manual I spotted info on pretty much every conceivable type of backup that there is.

Hidden partitions, incremental backups, scheduled backups, specific folder backups, you name it.

I use sync toy and the Microsoft disk backup built into vista (maybe just on business version). I was extremely impressed at how fast and well it worked at cloning my disk.

Good to know they have it built into Vista. I guess I forgot to mention that his computer is running Windows XP Media Center Edition though.
