OK, we currently have 2 dishes... one at our lake house and one here at home. We then learned that we could cancel our subscription from the lake house and carry a reciever back in forth from our house. Well now we have 3 in-home recievers. There is a switch on the Dish itself that runs to each of the recievers, but now we bought a Multi-Switch which has 4 outputs for recievers. Can we bypass the switch that is on the dish and run it throught the Radio Shack multiswitch so and just run our 3 recievers to that multiswitch in our living room, or do we HAVE to use the switch that is on the DISH.

no you have to use that switch

the receiver actually sends signals to the LNB,(little eyeball on your dish) and when you use multiple receivers, it acts like a router in handling the traffic going to the lnb
