So I was doing 3 set of 8 reps because thats what we did in highschool. Today I decided to try 5 sets of 5, the sets went better and I felt like I could have been pushing more than I am capable of when doing 3x8 So what gives? I know im getting stronger but I was at failure on rep 7 when doing 3x8 and with the 5 x 5 I could have done another set easy. What should I be doing to increase muscle mass? I want to get strong, id like to at some point maybe 5 months down the road get serious about losing weight but right now I just want to get as strong and big as possible. any info at all is appreciated. P.S. im a lightweight only reping 185 flat and 135 incline, but once again I could have probably done 150 on incline easy today.
