I have a folder full of software updates stored as dmgs in a folder on one of the inhouse servers. Everyone once and a while, though, I will click on a file and it will disappear. If I start selecting more files they too will disappear and will stay gone until I disconnect from the server and then reconnect.

This one has me pretty confused because there doesn't seem any rhyme or reason to it. Stupid apples...:ugh:

  2. There's a problem with the server or your connection.
The data is cached, so you're seeing icons of files which no longer exist. When clicked, the information is updated and they accurately disappear.

If that were the case then all the files would disappear and not just some of them.

  4. What type of server is it?

Open the directory in the terminal and type ls, see if the files are there.
