Sometimes at night the Windows on my machine seems to be working by itself, must be a screen recorder program or something built in.

The mouse moves by it's self and clicks through my files. I can't remember doing the things it does, so must be from a while ago.

When I touch the mouse it stops straight away.

I've looked through the Start button section, but can only find a Movie Maker section, not the Screen movie maker. It's recorded a lot of the sites I have gone on.

Whilst it looks a little crazy, I want to switch it off. Just need to find where the control section for it is.

    Thanks!

No need to be rude, Just not very good with computers.

Why should I do a reformatting? I would prefer to just switch it off, have a lot of important info on it.

Yes perhaps this may be it, the batteries in it's remote control are quite old.

I'll change them in the morning.

It's not a movie is what they are saying, it is someone controlling your comp. It is probably a Trojan Horse Kind of thing. Unplug from the internet and reformat Pronto.

It has to be, yes. But I'm afraid it might not be.

If it isn't a joke, then the OP somehow downloaded a piece of software that's acting like Remote Desktop, and it's letting someone else access his computer over the internet. And that means there's probably all kinds of other shit on his machine, and the only way to get it all clean is to reformat.

If you are really having this problem and this isnt a joke, it sounds like someone somehow is controlling your computer when you are not using it, which is obviously a very bad thing.

If thats the case then as suggested, you need to back up all of the files you want to keep to DVDs or an external hard drive and reformat Windows.

And make sure you dont do a full system backup, because then when you restore your system, it will be like you didnt do anything. Just back up your pictures, music, docs, ect.. and reformat.

Yep, to confirm it's someone or something remote, unplug the internet cable overnight and see if it happens or not...

Yeah. The important part is to only save data files, not program files. You have no idea which program is the one that's letting Mr. X browse your porn collection, so it's best to bulldoze them all.

Thanks for the help guys. It sounded quite serious from what you were saying.

I took it to the computer shop and they have fitted me a new hard drive. Haven't seen it happen again so far.

    *crosses fingers*

    Thanks.

Buy some anti-virus software from that shop, while you're at it.

Something no one has hit on yet.
Do a credit check on yourself.
Also call up your credit card companies.

Make sure there are no unauthorized purchases in your bank accounts or on your credit cards.
