Putting a rope around your neck and fixing that rope to an overhead beam really motivates you to keep dipping way past failure. Might be an idea to use this method with a training partner.

    Or those with shoulder issues.

Dips are not biomechanically a shoulder friendly exercise.

I LOVE them at the end of my chest/start of my tri routine, but i make sure i never go below parallel. I also make sure to do them slow and under complete control.

Of course they sure as fuck didnt help my elbow tendinitis

Was about to post exactly this.

Dips dont do anything for me that another lift cant do. The shoulder and elbow tendonitis pain i get from dips keeps me away. I just think they are overrated.

    chest/delts/tris

When you can do a bunch, add a 25 plate then when that gets easy add another 10 pounds.....repeat often and you'll be happy.

Dips are easier on my shoulders than benches, so I do dips instead. I keep hurting my shoulders on the bench :hs:

Anyway to prevent this? I havent had time to go to chiro to see if there is any issue with my shoulder other then not enough rotator/supplemental work but any time I do dip's by the 3rd set I'm done.
