Are they more just for your triceps, or do some of you brollis use them as a chest exercise as well?
lean forward and push your elbows out to hit the chest more.
Putting a rope around your neck and fixing that rope to an overhead beam really motivates you to keep dipping way past failure. Might be an idea to use this method with a training partner.
they hit both really well
great exercise keep elbows in and stay more vertical to hit triceps, lean forward elbows more out to hit more chest
great exercise but they do a fuckin number on my shoulders.
do a youtube search for gironda dips, all i do for chest now since everything else hurts my shoulders
Dips are fantastic, should be a part of everyones program!
definitely not everyone
hurts the shoulder and my gym doesn't have plates that fit my dip belt
Yes, very difficult for amputees I imagine.
Weighted dips ftw
ive always been a Skoal man myself
I hate dips. I do them but I hate them.
Or those with shoulder issues.
Dips are not biomechanically a shoulder friendly exercise.
shits always KILL my elbows
I LOVE them at the end of my chest/start of my tri routine, but i make sure i never go below parallel. I also make sure to do them slow and under complete control.
Of course they sure as fuck didnt help my elbow tendinitis
Feels shitty on my bows and shoulders n didn't find it to improve my bench /ohp anyways..
Was about to post exactly this.
Dips dont do anything for me that another lift cant do. The shoulder and elbow tendonitis pain i get from dips keeps me away. I just think they are overrated.
dip belt + leaning forward = amazing chest workout
When you can do a bunch, add a 25 plate then when that gets easy add another 10 pounds.....repeat often and you'll be happy.
Dips are easier on my shoulders than benches, so I do dips instead. I keep hurting my shoulders on the bench
Anyway to prevent this? I havent had time to go to chiro to see if there is any issue with my shoulder other then not enough rotator/supplemental work but any time I do dip's by the 3rd set I'm done.
