I can't decide between getting a Digital point and shoot for around 200 bucks, for getting a New SLR (non-digital) for around 200 bucks

I know what ya'll are going to say, "it depends on what you use it for"

I need it to take normal pictures ( i.e. everyday pictures of friends/family/scenery) , but i want to be able to really play with it and take photography pictures as it is a small hobby of mine.

I would really like to stay below 200, and have been looking at mostly Canons. I would probably end up with the Canon K2 , but dont know what i would end up with if i were to go the point and shoot route.

I need a new camera b/c i droped my powershot a70 in april and it wont turn on, it'll cost 200 bucks to get it repaird, so im getting a new one...

Tell me what you think guys....

you'd be better off getting the digital cam instead of an non-digital SLR. The digital will allow you to get a feel for how to take great shots without spending lots of money on film. Under $200 won't get you much quality, but stay will the more popular brands (canon, sony, fuji) and stay away from the HP's, Kodak and Olympus cameras.
