I have had the Digital Rebel for a year now and was thinking of getting some new lens

I currenlty am supportin the stock and a Zoom EF 80-200mm 4.5-5.6 II

I was thinking of looking for a farther range lens that won't cost an arm and a leg and some others that i need for my collection any ideas?

Also any accessories or recommendations that I should purchase.

I would personally go with a fast and sharp prime lens if you don't have one. The canon 50mm 1.8 is an awesome lens for under $100. If you have more money to spend, the 50mm 1.4 is one of my favorite lenses and is insanely sharp. Since you already have an 80-200 I wouldn't go for a better zoom yet. I am shooting with the 28mm 1.8 which I picked up for about $200 used. That might be a better choice since you are using a digital rebel..

Are you looking for primes or a zoom? How much do you want to spend? For primes, the longer the focal length and larger the aperture, the more expensive it is.

Here are some reviews on primes to get you started:

    Some Zooms:

Check Pbase for some samples taken with various lens (near the bottom):

I have the 18-55mm (kit lens), 75-300 USM IS lens, 16mm f/1.8, and a Zenitar Fisheye lens. Most all of them are on the cheap side but I've had some nice results with them. See gallery: http://jpdean.deviantart.com

Like others have mentioned, figure out what you want to shoot and if prime lenses are for you. I like my 50mm and 16mm but can't stand not having zoom on it. I suppose it's the inconvenience factor having to move closer or further away to get the composition you want but ah well, I deal with it.

How do you like the 200? Can you do me a favor and post a 100% crop wide open so I can determine sharpness? :x:

I heard its damn sharp. Since you sold the 70-200 the 200 is probably your best bet to cover the long end of that lens. I wouldn't double up though (70-200 + 200). :dunno:

    I hope Canon announces another 200mm.. 200 f/2.8 prices will drop! :x:

My friend got a 35mm f/1.4L last week. It looks nice so far. I'm waiting for the novelty to wear off so I can ask to borrow it. :x:

PMA is a couple months away, isn't it? I hope new lenses are announced. :x:
