My old one is too bulky and doesnt fit in my pocket so I never use it.

Ok so here is what I need

    Long battery life
    > 5 Megapixals
    < $ 250
!= Sony. My last sony sucked. Im not supporting ppl who put out a camera with a battery life (2 batteries) of only 5 minutes w/the lcd on.

Im not too worried about a good quality video /big LCD but those wouldnt be bad to have....

    Smaller the better.

Im ordering one tonight; Id love some help with this one guys. Make my Xmas a merry one!!!

    Thanks in advance.

BTW Links would be much appreciated

I have my eye on this one...

    Canon SD850 IS
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16830120208

It got good reviews on CNET, and both me and my father have had other older cams from Canon's Digital Elph series and they have served well.

I have my fingers crossed that i'm getting this for Christmas... so i don't have first-hand experience with it yet. I'm sure other people will have other suggestions.

i think there's another forum dedicated to this, but dpreview.net has a lot of info.

myself, family, and friends have been very happy with most of what canon offers for p&s. Their g line is good, i still use a g2. Their s/sd line is very good. The a line is meh. Very entry level with annoying "features".

you don't need the latest and greatest canon S* IS. The previous models are arguably just as good for a casual user.
