i'm about to buy a AR15 upper with a permanently attached muzzle brake. i wish it wasn't a perm, but it's too good of a deal to pass up. i don't really give a shit about hiding the flash, i don't do any covert missions, but i do care about sound. i've heard it's a lot louder with a muzzle brake, but what do you guys think? big increase in sound? small increase?

definitely louder to the people next to you. if you in an indoor range, it's gonna be killer.

my 16" bull barrel has no flash hider and it is much louder than my friends 16" with an A2 flash hider

It will be louder. Which brake did you get?

The only brake that I would classify as obnoxious is the DSA brake that they used to put on SA58s and Stg58s... those things sound like a fucking cannon.

Yes, it's definitely louder, my brother and I both have BOSS's on our rifles and the difference is deafening.

The AK74 style brakes are very effective as brakes but are among the louder ones too.
