i know this is a dumb question but whats the difference?
an M4 is a military rifle, and is an NFA firearm. an AR15 is a semi automatic version of the M16 or M4. if you're talking about looks, the M4 is shorter with an extendable stock with a 14.5" barrel and a barrel cut for a grenade launcher. an M4gery, or semi auto gun that looks like an M4 is an AR15.
can m4's be purchased for civilian use or do most people just go with the ar-15
i dunno much about NFA weapons, and i dunno if you can buy an M4. i know you can buy an M16 and put M4 parts on it, so it'd basically look like an M4 and be full auto. most people have AR15s since they are easy to get. AR15s are the semi auto ones, and it is an AR15 no matter what it looks like.
more dumb questions:
Are there easy ways to convert semi-auto AR15s to full-auto? (and is it illegal?)
no, and very. 10 years in pound me in the ass prison.
Only easy and legal way to make an ar15 auto is with a transferable DIAS (drop in auto sear) and I think they go for about $8k. Are there other ways? Yes, are they legal? No
from what ive bveen told is that the M4 upper reciever feed ramps are angled differently the ar15/m16 to improve feeding
Good info in the DIAS
i have M4 feedramps on my Colt AR15 M4gery. that's just a difference in manufacturers.
Some people make the cuts, some don't. IMHO, they make a decent amount of difference. Now, some people use it as a measuring stick for quality.
My new LMT has the cuts; BTW, it's da shit.
Wanna see M4(geries)?
how do you like that phantom? my new Colt m4 upper came w/ an A2 and i want something a little better.
roughly how much do you have invested in each of those?
edit: it might be in your m4 thread. i'll go check.
It'll be posted later. Sorry; no time now!
As far the phantom goes, I do like it. Reduces flash better than the A2.
