yeah i know theres no pics of him here with the blue belt on.. but u get the idea
I was going to be like wtf but then I remembered he just moved to another school and never trained GI before. He's going to get his purple quicker than most for sure.
Is that Chechen in the 2nd pic?
So basically he's a purple but he has to wait the appointed time set by the ibjjf rules?
He hung with diaz in grappling during their match very well. And I can't remember if diaz was a black or brown back then.
he just needs to learn the gi better. he could probably beat a number of black belts. but that alone doesnt mean you deserve a black belt. getting a belt with the gi means you have to have a certain understanding of the mechanics behind the gi and stuff. I'm sure some instructors would award him some honorary belts, but saulo is actually making him learn the gi game.
he's probably black belt level without the gi on. he's beat a lot of black belts in no gi, and hanging with marcelo garcia for 11 minutes is no small feat.
haha im sure he'd still own me hardcore, gi or no gi, thats for sure. apparently some of the higher belts at saulos are hoping he gets his purple next week
I know his accomplishments outside of mma and figured he would be considered brown/black no gi. So I just pretty much subtracted the gi experience and called him a purple.
But I'm glad that he's going about learning the art properly. But at the same time he doesn't need this, he needs to work his striking and greco.
ehh probably just cus its embarassing to be a brown belt and have this white belt ruining you
but saulo knows what hes doing for sure
rickson (his idol) told him to work on the gi to tighten up his grappling. and saulo holds the same opinion
So did he learn all this at Greg jacksons?
yeah, well its not their decision anyway.. but i'm sure he wont even be a blue belt for a year.
he wrestled beforehand, and learned his submissions at greg jacksons
isnt it 6 months of blue belt time before purple based on ibjjf regulations?
wow nevermind its 2 years
i dont know anyone who follows those
What's normal time to blue belt?
3-6 months of SOLID attendance and learning can get you there. but life gets in the way for alot of people, so some folks take 1-2 years.
Sans Vulgar on here, I haven't even heard of anybody getting it inside of 6 months. I know I don't train with a lot of guys who are out there doing it competetively, but we've got a kid at our school who's been there just over a year and attends 5 days a week and probably won't end up with his blue for a couple more months.
my old instructor got it in 3 months, but he was a 2x state champ wrestler in texas. He got his purple after 3 full years, and brown after 5.
As for me... 2 years 9 months for my blue (going 4x a week non stop), still a blue belt right now and its been just under 4 years of training.
So your saying reguardless if the fact, i go twice a day 5 days a week? resulting in 20 hours a week? or if i go twice a week for an hour and a half? for 3 hours a week, It should be 2 years for a purple reguardless? No, thats that dumbest shit i ever heard, Once you are conistantly beating the belt level above, and can teach class at the level of the belt above, he should be that belt, reguardless of time.
no gym for home?
lol so true
I like his fighting style a lot. It's good to see him going further in his training and not getting down after two disappointing losses.
No, up until this point in my life, this post is "that dumbest shit i ever heard."
