I know most of you guys think nothing of strapping a few plates on for chins but coming from 350lbs and never doing a single chin or pullup in my life until a year ago I'm happy. I got up to doing 30 chins (in sets) so I thought I would try weighted. Gay ass bb.com still has my belt on back order so I used a 25lb db between my legs and did a few sets, feels good man.

Good job...I was one of those people that could never do regular pullups or dips, so when I was able to add weight and do it for reps it felt great.

I agree with this, the movement is pretty different unless you're doing band assisted

jump up and lower yourself down slowly. I couldnt ever do a real pullup but after about 3 weeks of doing negatives i was able to bust out 1 or 2 real ones.

Theres a mini-timber, long hair, dark skin and everything, that goes to my gym and straps plates for pull ups/chin ups. I think he can go as far as a plate and a dime for a full pull up.

Best way I found is to put it right above my knees then cross my ankles. They aren't answer my emails about my dip belt so I'm looking for another one locally :squintd:

Christ, I feel like a pussy. I tried doing negative pull ups today and could only do 3 sets of 5 before I would fall straight down.

Well look at it this way, you're on the right track now. Keep it up and it's only a matter of time.

Just did 5 lbs for 10, then 10 lbs for 6/5/3 last night. Losing weight then building up is the easiest way to get better at them

If you don't mind comprising muscle in every other place on your body of course

I'm actually getting soreness in my arms this morning, feels good man. Can't wait to try chin ups!

You think I should buy a pull up bar for home use? I'm thinking I should do these every other day.

You need time to recuperate :dunno: On another note, I tried it with a 45lb dumbbell today and managed three sets of two :greddy:

i started by trying to do the assisted ones, and i felt like MAN I'M SO SORE THIS IS AWESOME until i could 10-15 on the lowest assistance, then tried a real one and FUCK. assisted is bull shit. having a spot/doing negatives are the only way to go

Thats right, now I remember how I used to do it. Recently I've just been doing more reps but I was trying to go back to some weight and couldn't remember where the hell I used to shove the db.
